Spring has sprung!

The spring peepers are all around us. We don't remember them being so loud near the house last year. The songbirds are loving our black sunflower seed feeder hanging on the kitchen window. We enjoy the purple finches, yellow finches (just arrived), house wrens and other friends. We've witnessed a juvenile barred owl that fell from his nest at Mimi and Pop Pops and Bree and Jason stirred up a turkey (accidentally) that was roosting along our road on a recent walk. My parents also saw a baby kit (of the fox variety) with his mom coming from their neighbors horse shed. It has been a nature-filled spring this year. Not to mention the ducklings . . . aren't they cute?!
We're patiently awaiting our own springtime arrival . . . Baby Kit. When will he arrive? We can't wait to meet him.

The Greatest Show on Earth . . .

This year, we celebrated Mimi's birthday at the circus. Ringling Bros. came to DC the weekend before her big day. It was another fun-filled day in the nation's capital. We had dinner afterwards at Hard Times Cafe in Rockville - check out Bree's foot long dog! Yes, she ate the WHOLE thing!!

55 degrees + sunshine = a day outside!!

Bree and I spent the afternoon walking to the waterfall (she ran actually), playing around the water and ice, hanging out in the neighborhood, playing in the yard, swinging, biking, and mudbogging . . . It was an awesome, but messy time! Here are some cute pics at the waterfall!

First Day of School - It Finally Came!!

Well, after missing 6 classes due to low enrollment and snow days -- Bree finally made it to the Lucy School for her Early Three's program!!! Her teacher, Miss Karen, called this afternoon to say that she was curious, roamed around a bit, but had a wonderful day with the other kids. Bree seemed to really enjoy the day - she painted, played outside, sang, listened to Miss Karen read books, played with veggies, had a snack . . . She seems interested in one friend Asher so far. We're really excited for her to make some friends and learn!! Here are some pics of the big day!

A wintery walk

We decided to go for a walk to the waterfall today. The sun was finally out and it looked really pretty outside. The trail to the waterfall was a dangerous ice slick and we almost got stuck in the woods. When we made it back to the road, we decided to throw ice across the crusty snow and listen to the cool noise it made breaking up and sliding. Bree evolved into an Ice Princess and did ballet dances on the ice. When we got back in the house, ice skating was on and the dancing continued.
