Easter Dress from Tucson Mimi

Here she is in her Easter sweater dress. This outfit was so cute. She really liked it -- it was comfortable too which is important for Bree. The frilly dresses with puffy stuff underneath tend to get on her nerves. Anyway, here she is in her dress and silvery shoes. She looks so pretty.

Happy Easter . . . bright and early

I woke up around 5 am to get the fire going in the stove. Bree must have heard me because she woke up and then saw her Easter basket. I asked Jason get up for the excitement. It's nearly 2 hrs later and she's had a whole bunch of sugar and is acting a bit crazy. Definitely being a little more naughty than usual . . . Here are some pics of her checking out her basket.

Easter Eggs . . . tie dye

We bought an Easter egg kit that did tie dye eggs -- you put the egg in a plastic cover and put dye through little holes poked in the plastic - worked ok. Bree colored with white crayon and pencil on her eggs. And tossed eggs in the dye splashing dye everywhere. Good thing we had a brightly colored table cloth. She took one hard boiled egg in her hand and just squished it. She and Jason put salt and pepper on it and tried to salvage it as food. I made chicken enchilada casserole. Yummy!

The day Cory and Veronika went home

We ate at Bree's favorite restaurant - the Barbara Fritchie. Then Mimi and Pop Pop went to Target with us and got Bree a headband that looked like a flower or sun. Mimi called Bree Little Miss Sunshine, even when she was screaming at Target mid-tantrum.

Visit to NC

Earlier in February we visited Bree's great-grandparents in North Carolina. We had a wonderful time with them. Bree received an early birthday gift there -- a new tricycle. She suprised us on the trip by climbing a ladder into their attic while no one was looking and locking herself in her bedroom at 6 a.m. We had to remove the lock from the door to get her out. She was terrific both legs of the 400-mile journey. She read books, sang, slept and played with mom and dad. We ate at Cracker Barrel on the way home and I think she ate more than ever before -- she had a large plate of mac and cheese and chicken and nearly ate all of it. She loved Gram's shrimp dinner too!

Funny faces

Bree loves to make funny faces for you when you are taking her picture. The squinty eye thing has been a staple of hers. Sometimes the pursed lips come along too. Every once in a while you get a candid smile :)

Happy Birthday to me!

Bree turned "2" last Saturday. When asked how old she was going to be, she responded :I'm going to be older." O.K. We had a music-inspired party for her at 11 am at our house. About 6-7 kids and 2 babies came up with their folks. Each brought their favorite instrument. We handed them a backstage pass at the door along with goodie bags. We had pizza, bean dip, veggies and dip, fruit salad, and of course chocolate cake and cupcakes. Yummy!! After the party we rested a little and headed to my parents house for Round 2. Cory and Verca were here of course, but Aunt Linda, Bernie Jr and Jeff, the Beaver's from Atlanta and everyone in between came for the party. Wayne and Gail, Gail Z., and the Slingluff's came along with family. Willow and Katie came down from PA. We attempted to recover on Sunday - but we're still tired on Tuesday. Bree has had a few post-party meltdowns but generally is being a good girl. We love her to pieces. Thanks to all who helped make this a really good time for all of us!!
