Our teeny room at Blackwater Falls S.P.

The mirror is perhaps placed to make the room seem larger . . . ? The kids wrestle on the bed. The only place to play really. Thanks to Kit's pack n play there wasn't much room to move in this place. But, it was warm and quiet. And we came home to our huge 1200 sq ft house!!!! It's a mansion in comparison!!

Snow snow and more snow in WV

While Jason masters the nasty roads . . .
The children doze off, tired from a day of sledding and great food at White Grass. This is what the road looked like as we headed out this morning. A bit blizzardy and treacherous if you ask me . . . I really wondered if we'd get home today. They were calling for non-stop snow until Sunday at 6pm. Before the kids, this would have been a cake walk. But with munchkins in the car, I was a nervous wreck. Crazy!!! But, we did make it home and created a new slogan for our car . . . "The Mini-Van CAN!"

New Year's Eve in Davis, WV

So our New Year's consisted of dinner at Sirianni's in Davis, WV followed by a night in our teeny room at Blackwater Falls State Park. Apparently a highlight was Bree and I snoring in harmony. I wasn't feeling that well and dozed off a bit before the new year. At least we were in a lodge in WV rather than snoring at home, right?! Our dinner was terrific - it was really bustling with people and we sat at a large family style table near the door which was fun for the kids. Lots of people coming and going. We didn't make it to the Purple Fiddle. We did a drive by and it looked packed with folks sans kids . . . so we opted to go back to the lodge.

Sledding at Blackwater Falls S.P.

Friday we rented a toboggan and small baby sled at the park and got rides up the hill from Sam on his snowmobile. He rode me down the hill on the snowmobile so that I could take pictures of the kids with Jason on the toboggan. I got videos too. It was great.
Kit enjoyed his first ever sledding adventure . . . Here's the fam in front of the "warming hut."

After sledding, we drove down to Canaan Valley and visited the White Grass X-country ski park for an awesome lunch. We had veggie chili, super nachos, grilled cheese, cream soda, stout, and an emergen-C for me to ward off the cold!! It was so tasty. The place was packed and Kit slept through the whole meal. We'll have to come back for some skiing sometime. The kids were pretty tired from sledding. Bree actually fell asleep on our way to the ice skating park. We'll have to try that in Frederick.
